Cumberland City Council Youth Development Team collaborated with key stakeholders, such as Barnardos, to present the 2023 Youth Mental Health Summit.
Cumberland’s Youth Mental Health Summit was held on 28th Feb 2023 at the Holroyd Centre in Merrylands. It provided Youth professionals and young people a chance to come together and discuss the concerns around Youth Mental health and collaboratively develop an action plan.
Guest speakers included Members of Parliament, various youth mental health professionals, young people as well as people with lived mental health experience through a live question and answer panel.
One of our Barnardos Youth and Family Workers, Michelle Deloso, was a guest speaker raising awareness on the work that Barnardos does for the young community focusing on the key elements required to achieve successful outcomes.
This included a 2 year long case study and how her perseverance, passion, consistency and advocacy enabled positive outcomes for the young person.
