Parent support services

Barnardos help parents cope with the challenges of raising a family and being the best parents they can.

Partnering with parents

We know that being a parent is tough at the best of times – but it’s even harder when parents have never had any nurturing or positive parental role models of their own.

When this happens, they often need help with how to positively parent their own children.

We give parents the tools and confidence to ensure their children are safe, healthy and thriving in a supported group setting or one-on-one home visits from experienced practitioners.

First learnings

We help parents be their child’s first teacher and to make sure their children start school on the same level as their peers. We enable parents to give their children a lifelong love of learning.

WHAT WE SEE

We see beyond the sleepover in cars and understand the underlying issues.

After escaping family violence, a parent and their child have nowhere safe to stay and are
currently waiting for refuge accommodation.
