Team building activities
The Barnardos amazing race is a scavenger hunt activity where teams compete against the clock to solve puzzles designed to encourage team-building and communication.
Teams must rely on their problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and navigation abilities to complete each challenge successfully and progress to the next one. The race is completed on foot and covers approximately 3-5kms, before concluding at a secret location, where the winning team will be announced and participants can debrief and mingle in a social setting.
FAQs
What is the Barnardos Amazing Race and how does it work?
The Barnardos Amazing Race is a fundraising event that allows teams to participate in a variety of fun activities, in support of Barnardos essential programs and services.
Teams meet at a designated starting point and set off around the Barnardos Amazing Race circuit, completing a series of challenges and tasks to unlock clues that lead them to the next checkpoint. But be prepared for roadblocks, detours and fast-forwards along the way! The race concludes at a secret location where the winner is announced and teams can celebrate, compare notes, and socialise with other competitors, all whilst having fun and supporting Barnardos!
We haven’t taken part in team events before, how should we prepare?
No preparation or experience is necessary. Teams only require a sense of humour and a healthy dash of competition to participate. You will also need to provide a team name when registering and then meet at the starting point to be in the running to claim the Barnardos Amazing Race Champions for Children title!
Do we need to be super fit?
The Amazing Race is designed for all levels of fitness, so you don’t need to be an Olympic athlete to complete the course. The circuit is approximately 3-5kms in total and broken up with checkpoints. So, if you can comfortably walk, you can complete the Amazing Race!
What do we wear?
We strongly recommend that teams wear comfortable clothing and footwear.
A sun hat and sunscreen are recommended during the warmer months and a rain jacket or umbrella is advised if rain is expected on the day.
Can we dress up?
ABSOLUTELY! We love (and encourage) teams to dress up, whether that is in your company colours, branded shirts, or fancy costumes!
What shall we bring?
We recommend bringing a water bottle, your phone and a method of payment, as the venue at the end of the race will provide the opportunity to purchase refreshments.
