Bundaleer Community Centre

Empowering local children, young people and families to thrive.

A place for community to connect

Bundaleer Community Centre is located on the Bundaleer public housing estate in Warrawong. We provide a range of programs and support options for children, young people and their families living on the estate, including a breakfast program, before and after school activities, holiday activities, parenting programs and playgroups.

School holiday activities are planned on a term-by-term basis and depend on partnership support.

Shaniece's story

Growing up in Bundaleer

Shaniece: It’s important to invest in children because they’re the future. They absorb so much from what they see and from what adults do, and the community.

Shaniece: So the Bundaleer community centre is actually based on the housing estate so kids can just come down from their houses and that and come to the centre whenever they want. At the time, first starting living here, it was a pretty scary place. There was a lot of violence and stuff and drugs and alcohol but coming here… I wasn’t alone going through this stuff and, you know, it wasn’t just me that was feeling these things it was other people as well.

Barnardos supports the community by providing a range of programs for children, young people and families.

Yvette: So the whole idea of us down here is to give a safe place for the young people to come, where they feel protected, where they feel they can talk freely and feel safe and just get support if they need it, have something to eat and make friends.

Child: Like, say there’s something going on with your family or something they’re always there to help you too.

Child: I normally come down here for breakfast.

Child: I like Bundaleer a lot. I come here every Wednesday.

Child: You get to have fun and meet new people.

Child: You eat healthy. You get active.

Child: They’re very helpful and they encourage you to do things.

Child: The people here are lovely.

Child: I would love to come to the centre every day.
