Marking National Families Week in Gilgandra
Gilgandra Shire Council and Interagency held their first National Families Week celebration day at Hunter Park last Friday.
Supervisor at Gilgandra Youth Services Helen Naef said interacting with and informing locals was one of the main goals of the day.
"It's about community engagement and letting people in the community know that the services are there that can support their family needs," said Ms Naef.
"It's a good opportunity for those people to come into Gilgandra, because a lot of them outreach here, but they aren't based here.
"Also, services get to know other services because it can be a complex. It's a big networking opportunity." said Ms Naef.
She said the day ran smoothly.
All the children that attended enjoyed face painting and bubble blowing with Barnardos and Johnny's petting zoo.
Gilgandra shire librarian Liz McCutcheon also attended and handed out children's with packs that included some dinosaur books.
The day was supported with some funds from the Gilgandra Shire Council which included helping with catering costs.
