Raising money for vulnerable children

Everyone’s generosity will go towards helping children receive the urgent care they need to heal and thrive. This includes but is not limited to medical care, education and schooling supplies, therapy and counselling.

Keep an eye out on next year’s art show event as we would love for you to contribute or support our event.

Together, we remain Fearlessly Optimistic.

Christmas in Pyrmont is an annual street fair, organised by local Pyrmont and Ultimo residents.

We welcome you to celebrate the festive season and to join in with the local community. There will be live music, face painting and crafts for kids, fun and fitness activities for all ages to get involved. Santa and the fire engine will be present too! Be sure to put the date in your diary and tell all your friends!

Would you like to be involved in the event that celebrates the festive season and promotes the sense of community, whilst raising funds and awareness for local charities?

We need volunteers to assist us in making this event run smoothly for the children! Activities like face painting, card decorating, cookie decorating will require support, in addition to set up and pack down.

Volunteers require a Working with Children Check for this event.

Please email Isabella Armstrong iarmstrong@barnardos.org.au for more details and to register to volunteer.

The Peter Pan committee -
80 years of tradition

The Peter Pan Committee is the main fund raising auxiliary of Barnardos and has raised many millions of dollars – funds which go directly to critical child welfare programs and services that help thousands of children and young people. The committee also contributes by raising public awareness and goodwill.

The committee was originally established in Sydney in 1936 to support the ‘Free Kindergarten’ in Union Street Paddington at a time when there was no government funding for kindergartens.  In 1974, when government funding for kindergartens was introduced, the Peter Pan Committee decided to direct its fundraising to the support of Barnardos Australia.

The statistics are chilling: more than 45,000 Australian children are in care – unable to live in the same house as their parents because it is  not safe for them.  Every day there are more than 145 substantiated reports of child abuse and neglect and one child dies every 15 days in Australia as a direct result of abuse.  Barnardos is committed to changing this.

NEW LOCATION: 410 Oxford Street, Paddington NSW 2021

The iconic Peter Pan Op Shop is back for Winter this year! This high end, vintage and second-hand clothing sale is a biannual event that raises much-needed funds for Barnardos Australia.

Join us for the sale of the season to support Barnardos programs and services that support disadvantaged children, youth, and their families.

3 days only

Fri 10:30am to 5pm   |  Sat 9:30am to 5pm   |  Sun 10:30am to 3pm

This is a women’s only event. EFTPOS facilities are available. All proceeds go to Barnardos Australia.

Dating back to World War II, the Op Shop is run by the dedicated women of the Peter Pan Committee who have supported our work with vulnerable children and families for over 85 years. It has since become an iconic fundraising event held twice a year in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs where those with an eye for fashion can scour the racks for top-end items at rock bottom prices.

The sale features designer brands such as Bianca Spendersass & bide and Zimmermann, with all clothing, footwear and accessories donated to help raise much-needed funds for our programs and services.

A heartfelt thank you to all who donate to our Op Shop sale. From large designer brands to local Sydney women, your generous support ensures Barnardos can continue providing urgent care and essential services to those most vulnerable. Thanks to the kindness of people like you, last year we helped a total of 10,987 children, young people and their families!
