Child and Family Hub Manager for Western NSW, Jenny Hargreaves represented Barnardos at the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Government Service Delivery Standards in Regional NSW. This Inquiry is examining new ways to monitor the performance and delivery of community services across regional areas.
Jenny’s decades of expertise in providing and managing child and family services in Western NSW made her an ideal person to represent Barnardos and her region. Her evidence addressed the unequal level of services available to families in regional areas, compared with metro areas, and the pressure that is placed on organisations like Barnardos to cover a broader spectrum of issues with fewer resources. She emphasised the need for local decision making and flexible delivery models, as well as funding that takes into account additional travel times.
As always, at the heart of her message was Barnardos fundamental belief that children have fundamental rights to high quality support services regardless of where they live.
