AMB upgrades Penrith Crisis Accommodation Units

As part of the Australian Mutual Bank (AMB) commitment to supporting Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) awareness and response, AMB generously made a meaningful contribution to improve safety for families at our Penrith Centre.

In alignment with DFV workplace policy and passion, AMB generously funded to replace three unsafe shower units at the Penrith Centre’s crisis accommodation units. The existing curtain-style shower units had been identified as a risk for individuals experiencing mental health challenges and self-harm concerns.

Through this incredibly generous donation, the Centre was able to install safer, more suitable shower units, creating a more secure and supportive environment for the families and children who rely on Barnardos services.

Program Manager, Mel Cooke shared her appreciation:

“…I am so thankful for the support and generous donation that will help provide safety for our families and children who are going through difficult times. Really appreciate the donation is such a benefit for our families with mental health worries.”

We’re grateful to AMB for their practical and compassionate support, and for demonstrating their continued commitment to DFV awareness and support through tangible action.

WHAT WE SEE

We see beyond the sleepover in cars and understand the underlying issues.

After escaping family violence, a parent and their child have nowhere safe to stay and are
currently waiting for refuge accommodation.
