Happy Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year is the biggest calendar event for many South-East Asian and East Asian countries. While traditions and celebrations may differ between communities, Lunar New Year represents a fresh start for all. 2024 is the year of Dragon which is believed to embody power, strength, luck and wisdom.

There is a sea of red and gold at Auburn Early Learning Centre this week with children dressing in traditional costume and making traditional food.

New National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children announced

Yesterday, our Prime Minister made a historic announcement confirming that the government will appoint a dedicated National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children.

Our CEO, Deirdre Cheers along with other CEO’s from across the sector have formulated an alliance. ‘ Allies for Children Australia’ and rallied for this change.

Barnardos is committed to approaching culture with humility, respect and curiosity, and eagerly anticipates the partnership between Barnardos and the new commissioner.
