The first Barnardos Beach Bolt was held on 14 June at Coogee Beach, drawing a huge crowd of locals who all came down to support Barnardos Australia outrun child abuse.
More than 250 participants - families, children, Coogee Cougars, local businesses and emergency services - gathered together in the winter sunshine to watch as former Australian Idol contestant, Paulini, opened the Bolt with her latest hit, By my side.
They then joined in a warm up session lead by Titan Fitness, before making their way to the starting line.
The Mini Bolt, a 50m beach sprint for the kids under eight years old, started the race events with more than 20 children competing against Brad Dubos, our Emergency Service Fire ambassador. All of the Mini Bolters did really well running across the beach and we were lucky to have such a great winner take out the prize.
The main Beach Bolt saw participants test themselves over grass, pavement, stairs and sand. It was an incredible effort by everyone to finish such a testing course.
Barnardos Australia would like to say Well done to everyone who participated and thank you for making it such a great day.
Please see our Facebook page for more photos from the day and have a look at the results for your race times.
We especially want to congratulate all of the winners listed below:
