Barnardos Australia and University of Sydney establish Institute of Open Adoption
The University of Sydney has established the Institute of Open Adoption Studies in partnership with Barnardos Australia through $2.85 million in state government funding, NSW Premier Mike Baird announced.
The Institute will inform welfare workers and government and promote the use of open adoption from care. There will be a professor of open adoption appointed in the near future. The research will help to inform the future of open adoption of children from care in New South Wales and lead the way for the rest of Australia.
