Lauren and Ebru with the Green Apple!
Barnardos Auburn Children’s Family Centre celebrated Child Protection Week by hosting a Healthy Breakfast and Protective Behaviours event at Granville East Public School on 4 September, 2014.
The event was held with other members of the Auburn Holroyd Child Protection Interagency.
Children at Granville East Public School took part in a colouring-in and poster competition which focused on the two protective behaviours themes: - 'Everyone has the right to feel safe all the time' and 'Nothing is so awful that you can’t talk about it to Someone'.
The day began with a healthy breakfast and entertainment from a giant, dancing green apple!
Prize winners from the colouring-in competition were congratulated by NSW Police representatives and the Mayor of Auburn, Tony Issa at a school assembly. This year the Interagency organised for the Protective Behaviours Consultancy Group to give protective behaviour lessons to every class at the school.
The Interagency is made up of many local stakeholders including Barnardos, Auburn Community Services, Bhanin Association, Auburn Youth Centre, Department of Education school guidance officers, Auburn Diversity Services, Trinity Catholic College, Brighter Futures Cumberland and Auburn Police. Many of these organisations sent members to help out at the event.
