Jordan didn’t wish for toys from Santa for his first three Christmases.
From the time he was a tiny baby, he was left alone or with total strangers for days on end. He wasn’t fed and his dirty nappies weren’t changed. On Christmas Eve Jordan slept on the floor, without covers or comfort.
When Jordan was removed from this unsafe home all he asked Santa for was a family.
Barnardos found him a foster family who could best help him recover from the trauma he’d experienced.
Jordan blamed himself for the bad things that happened to him. Like many vulnerable children in Australia, he needs a lot of care – especially around the holidays—to help him learn he did nothing wrong.
Now that Jordan’s basic needs are being met, he can finally dream of getting new toys like Lego. For children experiencing abuse, toys at Christmas aren’t an expectation, they’re a very rare treat.
However, there are still thousands more children like Jordan who have no idea what it feels like to be loved – and they need your support.
Please donate to Barnardos today to help give Australia’s neediest children the care and safety they deserve this Christmas.
