Vacation Care
Barnardos Penrith Centre offers Vacation Care as part of its respite programs for children and adolescents from the local community with disabilities. The program operates for ten weeks of the year during school holiday periods.
Many young people with disabilities, in particular those from disadvantaged backgrounds, miss out on services and activities available to other children during the vacation periods.
The Vacation Care program aims to offer centre based day care to families who cannot access mainstream services. It provides an opportunity for children and adolescents with disabilities to socialise with their peers, forge new relationships and to participate in leisure activities at the centre.
Activities and excursions at the centre are developed in accordance with age and developmental appropriateness, and are supervised by qualified staff with a high level of commitment and energy.
