Tough Bloke Challenge

Thank you to all the tough blokes and tough chicks who a made huge effort to support Barnardos in the Tough Bloke Challenge this year. The 2010 events were held in Melbourne on Saturday, 5th March and in Sydney on Saturday, 3rd July.

Barnardos Australia was proud to partner with this event, now in its third year, for the first time. Not only did it provide a challenging, fun and competitive event for Barnardos supporters but gave us a valuable opportunity to raise crucial funds.

A final tally including the online donations at the Everyday Hero Tough Bloke Challenge fundraising page & donations collected on the day, reached over $7000.00. Well done everyone!

Race director, Gary Farebrother was on the money when he said: “Everyone likes to get down and dirty once in a while! It's 100% unadulterated fun, an opportunity to be a kid again.”

A Barnardos team including our ambassador, watering skiing champ, Lauryn Eagle entered the Sydney event and the festival atmosphere on the day was vibrant! Families cheered on their mud-splattered favourites, kids played on the jumping castle and others kicked back to enjoy the live music.

Lauryn did us proud – she powered round the course in an impressive time of 40: 20, making her the third fastest female overall and winning her age-group. Congratulations Lauryn.

Well done also to the Sydney Bulls team and to all the other members of the Barnardos team for completing the challenging  off-road running and obstacle course.
