As winter fast approaches most of us will be looking forward to rugging up in our favourite coat, indulging in some warming comfort food and spending up big at the winter sales.
Yet there are Australian children for whom winter is the worst time. They endure cold mornings on an empty stomach and long nights worrying about being abandoned and alone. Families under stress are breaking apart daily, leaving thousands of children in our community at risk of neglect.
Last Christmas, Barnardos’ Star of Wonder made the difference to families across the country. It was your generous support that allowed the children to have a Christmas to celebrate and remember. Sadly, there are still so many children who have never experienced the joy of receiving a present of any kind.
At this time of year, when disadvantaged children are again doing it tough, we thought a little bit of Christmas in July would be a great idea. With toys for birthdays or as a gift to brighten a child’s life and with cash donations to pull families through a difficult period, let’s share a little warmth this winter.
