Penrith
The rapidly expanding nature of the Penrith area, west of Sydney, has meant that Barnardos Penrith has had to develop services to cover the needs of disadvantaged families in the local community. In particular, Barnardos Penrith found there was a shortage of services for disabled young people.Started in 1984 Barnardos Penrith has expanded to provide a wide range of services and programs a number of which are specially designed to meet the particular and changing needs of young people with a disability.
In addition, family support and adolescent services are established in response to the needs of the local community. These include medium term supported accommodation, the Streetwork drug and alcohol program and a program providing support for the residents of a local housing estate.
