Raising Funds Where They Are Needed MostFred Hoskings Foundation Presents Cheque to Barnardos

Many organisations, both community and corporate, have over the decades understood the pressing need for the raising of funds to continue the provision of Barnardos programs for children in need.

In accordance with our strategy of effective early intervention, abuse prevention and family support, Barnardos supports children within their families intensively over many months and even years. While this can provide the best outcomes, it requires a great deal of resources in terms of staffing and services, and this is where the assistance of special fundraising events is so critical.

The dedicated groups and individuals shown below have demonstrated intiative, creativity and commitment to providing solutions for kids trapped in a nightmare of brutality and deprivation.

Peter Pan Committee

The Peter Pan Committee was dveloped nearly seven decades ago by a group of prominent Sydney residents who wanted to develop successful event fundraisers to benefit children and families in need, and also to promote Barnardos' work with children.

Through the extraordinarily generous and untiring efforts of members and supporters, the Peter Pan Committee has raised nearly $2 million in aid of Barnardos in the last decade alone. Barnardos owes Peter Pan a profound debt of gratitude for their selfless work, their dedication and their compassion.

Designer Clothing Sale

Peter Pan Opportunity Committe also organises a designer clothing sale which takes place twice a year in the City. Discerning shoppers can find wonderful bargains in the knowledge that the proceeds to to Barnardos' programs and services.

Young Peter PanYoung Peter Pan

In 1988 the Young Peter Pan Committee was founded to attract new young supporters and continue the tradition of sparkling social event and fundraising balls and parties.

YPP consists of a group of dedicated young people who put their time, energy and social contacts to work in a good cause. Following in the footsteps of its parent committee, YPP has organised a host of dinners, fashion parades, cocktail parties, raffles and other exciting events.

CFMEU

Barnardos is delighted to welcome CFMEU as one of our major sponsors for 2004/2005. CFMEU and their members have already offered enthusiastic support for Barnardos' Star of Wonder Christmas Gift Appeal 2004, which raised over $15,000 worth of cash, food and gifts for Barnardos kids and families struggling at Christmas time.CFMEU presents a cheque in support of Star of Wonder 2004

CFMEU is strongly community-focused and understands the importance of a stable and nurturing environment for every child. Barnardos looks forward to working  in partnership with CFMEU and their generous members over the coming months.

HSBC has supplemented their financial support of the HSBCkids mentoring program with outings for Barnardos kids  to rugby games and other exciting venues. HSBC staff are also actively involved in these activities, volunteering their time to help escort the children and ensure a fun time is had by all.

babyPayroll Deduction

Some Australian companies who assist Barnardos through payaroll deduction schemes include legal firm Mallesons Steven Jacques, investment specialists Caliburn and Integral Energy. Staff's regular payroll donations to Barnardos now automatically receive immediate tax adjustments, which benefits both parties. The overall staff total can then be matched by employers if they wish, demonstrating both support for staff and involvement in pressing community issues.

"Payroll deductions are one of the most important ways to contribute to Barnardos as they allow us to formulate projections and strategies for the future," said Barnardos Marketing Manager, Bill Petch. "Companies and their staff who contribute in this way are the backbone of some of our most vital programs."
