The Internet Café has been set up to provide a safe, easily accessible environment for women to become more familiar with Information Technology and to receive employment and career training. It caters in particular for women who are socially isolated and financially disadvantaged.
The aim of the project is to help women with no previous experience of the Internet by giving them the opportunity to access on-line employment and training opportunities through links with TAFE and local businesses. In addition, the women are encouraged to network with each other, thus helping to minimise their social isolation.
