SCARF and e-SCARF
Supporting children and responding to families
SCARF is a best practice case management model. It is specifically designed for services offering individual support to vulnerable families with children. The model offers comprehensive assessment and planning tools with guidance in making professional judgements. SCARF was adapted from the UK 's “Children In Need and their Families Assessment and Planning Framework ” ( CIN Framework ).
e-SCARF is the electronic version of SCARF (Supporting Children And Responding to Families), a case management system for child and family services.
Just like SCARF, e-SCARF aims to meet individual child needs. It strengthens families and connects families to communities. It provides transparent casework processes that are both accountable and standardized. It is very inclusive of families.
e-SCARF provides case management tools in an electronic format that systematically guides workers from initial contact with client, to closure of work. The information gathered aims to identify areas of difficulty and sets up streamlined planning processes for how needs are to be met. Review of plans is made easier by the quick identification of and access to current information.
e-SCARF also enables users to participate in collaborative research projects and enhances evidenced based work practices.
With widespread use of e-SCARF, Family Support in Australia and New Zealand will be able to contribute significantly to global research to improve the lives of children.
