14-year-old Mark needs a permanent family
Mark enjoys all things sporty especially swimming and attending surf life saving club. He loves to be a helper at home and school. Mark would benefit from having strong male role models in his life and a family who encourages him with his friendships. Mark’s new family should be able to help him be organised for school, as well as support him to have fun visits with his two sisters in the school holidays. Barnardos will provide you with ongoing support, training and financial assistance. If you think you could be Mark’s new family please call Ngaere at our Central Coast office on (02) 4324 9411.
Our Find-a-Family service specialises in arranging secure and caring permanent family care placements for children and young people of all ages.
Separation from family is one of the most disruptive events that can occur in a child or young person’s life. Without Barnardos' care and expertise, children and young people suffering from the trauma of abuse and neglect may also be affected by the process of foster care. Barnardos believes that our foster care placement system has evolved into the best possible means of providing children and young people with short and long-term placement options.
The success of permanent foster care placements derives from the careful matching of a child with their foster family and ongoing training and support for carers and the success of foster care placements of adolescents depends on the carer’s level of understanding of identity and emerging independency needs of the young person.
