Barnardos > Services > Adolescent Support

Young Australian adults who lose contact with their families and communities are among the most vulnerable individuals in our society. Lacking the skills to live independently or to find work, many fall prey to the exploitation of street life, to drug addiction and to homelessness.
Barnardos works with adolescents often helping them to reconnect with their own families. By meeting young people 'on their turf and on their terms', providing counselling, guidance and referral to those at risk or in crisis, Barnardos reaches out and gains the trust of young people at their most vulnerable.
Where adolescents cannot live with their families, Barnardos provides community placements and programs to assist adolescents to cope with their particular pressures and difficulties.
